THE SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS

M/V "BOS ATLANTIC"

The Danish build and owned trawler m/v "Timmiarmint", spend 7 months at Nauta S.A Shiprepair Yard In Gdynia. On project completion she was redelivered as a seismic vessel renamed "Bos Atlantic" and is now operated by the Norwegian Owner Bergen Oil Services.

The main dimensions:
Description
Length o.a. 67.30 m
Length b.p. 58.50 m
Breadth moulded 14.50 m
Height to the main deck 5.75 m
Height to the tweendeck 8.25 m
Height to the bow deck 13.25 m
Summer line draught 6.25 m

The conversion required extensive steel works and started with scrapping obsolete structures. Entire fish processing plant was removed including refrigerated spaces with outfit. The stern slipway was replaced with new stainless steel structure of different shape. The A-frame was scrapped together with deck cranes were scrapped and later replaced with two cranes, one located aft and the other on the midship. Shelter deck as well as crane foundations and casing were removed from aft up to frame 53. The accommodation spaces were completely refurbished with 4 new cabins added in place of long corridor in the superstructure (once used for pulling the fishing net cables).

Aft of the superstructure a new hangar for seismic equipment was added. This involved prefabrication by the yard some 150 tons of steel for the structure 34,5 m long and high for 7 m (without the funnel). The brand new seismic equipment consists, among others, of 3 screw compressors and 4 piston ones, 3 gun winches, 2 drums and 2 huge streamer winches.

In the engine room two gensets were added, each of 880kW output. The vessel was also fitted with retractable azimuth thrusters with trunk built on the tank top. Anchor/mooring equipment was left untouched except for the anchor chain that has been replaced with the new one, of similar thickness but improved strength. Due to weight of seismic equipment the fixed ballast was added in the amount of ca. 360 tons.
