M/V "OSPREY EXPLORER" and "HAWK EXPLORER"
The seismic-research vessels
1. M/V "Osprey Explorer" (ex Gepard)

The vessel was built in 1985 in Poland in Gdansk Shipyard, as
supply vessel. She had a superstructure with navigation deck located on bow
section and the engine room located at the midship. Vessel was equipped in
towing winches and deck davit. Gepard's deck was equipped in two powerful
foam generators, couple water-foam guns and sea water suction pump diesel
engine driven, changing ship into rescue vessel. In 2006 she has been converted
in SHIPREPAIR YARD "NAUTA" S.A. in Gdynia. After conversion "Osprey Explorer"
became seismic-research vessel.

Conversion consisted in vessel adaptation for new tasks set by the Owner.
In aft section deck hangar structure with heli-deck was added. Structure
according to Vik & Sandvik design was build according DNV regulations
and rules. Vessel obtained DNV +1A1 ICE-1C HELI class. During conversion
into seismic-research vessel, three high pressure air compressors with driving
units, have been installed on deck. Additional, streamer winch with handling
system, umbilical winches and seismic equipment handling winches have been
installed on hangar-deck. Also superstructure was rebuilt extending her capacity
over 6 new accommodation compartments, new instrument room, for seismic equipment,
and stores. During conversion 200 tones of new steel was used. Assumption
scope of work increased over twice and also took up vessel common systems.
Additional the scope of conversion included:
- vessel adaptation fulfilling SOLAS regulations,
- rebuilding existing piping system as needed,
- rebuilding electric installation,
- connecting new electric generator to Diesel engine, previously driving
sea water suction pump,
- assembling computer network and intercom system,
- increasing accommodation/office area and instrument room by superstructure
rebuilding,
- accommodation compartments renewal;
- navigation deck upgrading,
- fitting of new fire detection, foam and CO2 system,
- fitting of high pressure air system,
- assembling cranes and FRC davit.
For the conversion the ships steel of A grade was used and works
were carried out under supervision of the Classification Society Det Norske
Veritas (DNV).
Conversion's technical drawings and technological documentation have been
prepared by the Projects Technical Service Department of Shiprepair Yard
"NAUTA" S.A. in Gdynia.
2. M/V "Hawk Explorer"

The vessel was built in 1984 in Norway in accordance with the rules and
regulations of DNV. She was build as a shrimp trawler with a large work-deck,
two reefer holds and factory plant. The engine room is all located at the
stern section and accommodation area has been located at the bow section,
plus the superstructure at the midship. In 2006 she converted in SHIPREPAIR
YARD "NAUTA" S.A. in Gdynia. After conversion "Hawk Explorer" became seismic
- research vessel.

- accommodation compartments renewal;
- navigation deck upgrading,
- fitting of new fire detection, FM-200, Flexi Fog and CO2
local protection system,
- fitting of high pressure air system,
- assembling cranes and FRC davit,
- fitting of azimuth propeller, as a second independent
propulsion system for vessel.
For the conversion the ships steel of A class was used
and works were carried out under supervision of the Classification Society
Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
Technical drawings and technological documentation of conversion have been
prepared by the Projects Technical Service Department of Shiprepair Yard
"NAUTA" S.A. in Gdynia.
